THE MAGIC OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PERIOD OF A YEAR

Advent in Dubrovnik, from November 28, 2026 to January 3, 2027, brings a rich cultural and entertainment program for all ages to the people of Dubrovnik and their visitors for the ninth year in a row! At numerous locations, from the Lazaret to the old city center to Lapad and Mokošica, the attendees will be entertained by various program contents, and the magic of the most beautiful period of the year will be completed by more than a thousand glittering decorations that will dress the City in holiday clothes.

The festival’s favourite mascot, Medo, together with the elves, will spread festive cheer throughout the city streets. The youngest visitors will once again be able to enjoy the ice rink and the Cabrio Bus, bringing joy to visitors of all ages across the city! Alongside major concerts on the world’s most beautiful stage, the programme will also feature a rich selection of events prepared by Dubrovnik’s cultural institutions and the Dubrovnik Tourist Board.

The new visual identity of Advent in Dubrovnik (Advent u Gradu), created by Dubrovnik-based graphic designer Orsat Franković and Flomaster studio, offers a contemporary interpretation of local tradition and the festive spirit, bringing together Dubrovnik’s iconic symbols and Christmas motifs.

The event’s name is arranged across four lines, creating room for a playful interplay of meanings. AD_26 refers to the year 2026 and the Latin expression Anno Domini, meaning “in the year of our Lord”, while Grad, with a capital G, refers to Dubrovnik. The Du designation further clarifies which city is being referred to for those who may not immediately recognise it.

The illustrative elements are built around circular motifs that bring together Dubrovnik’s traditions and festive symbols: the orange, whole or sliced; a rosette inspired by Dubrovnik’s architecture and the sun motif on the bell tower clock; as well as a Christmas bauble, a snowflake and a sparkler.

Through a playful combination of typography, illustration and traditional motifs, the new identity establishes a distinctive visual expression for Advent in Dubrovnik, blending Dubrovnik’s unique character with the universal spirit of the festive season.
